Kyokushin History
Kyokushin Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art devised by one of the most famous martial art masters in Japan, Masutatsu OYAMA (1923 – 1994). Mas OYAMA had a long history in martial arts from a very young age, he moved from his born country Korea to Japan to pursue his dreams and became involved in Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Karate and numerous other arts before devising his dream and developing Kyokushin (Ultimate Truth). To display his knowledge and strength Sosai (President) OYAMA travelled the world taking on all comers who wished to challenge, he defeated them all easily. Today, there are over 15 million people in the world studying the Kyokushin system and it provides information and training for everyone. If people wish to pursue non contact or full contact tournaments, they will be provided with the training to do so. Because of the nature of its normal training, Sosai Oyama also developed a system which if used properly, is a natural and efficient form of self defence.
Sosai Oyama’s Kyokushin system remains to be as strong as ever with millions of people training in different areas and factions all over the world. All Japan Kyokushin Union being one of the largest, it has an extremely experienced and respected leadership group and basically offers unlimited opportunities for all its members.
